In 1999, Britney appeared on the cover Rolling Stone dressed a little too sexy and parents complained that young girls looked up to her and she should not dress that way it will encourage other girls to dress like that.
But Britney stood her ground and let people know that she was getting older and she wasn’t a little girl anymore and she did not want to be a role model. Britney was also beginning her relationship with N’Sync’s Justin Timberlake.
Britney was by now one of the hottest young stars on the music scene. She won an American Billboard Award and an American Music Award but she has yet to grab the golden Grammy, though she was nominated twice she lost to Christina Aguilera and Sarah McLachlan. In 2000, Britney released her follow up album titles Oops! I did it again and that she did, she broke a best selling debut album record; the album sold over 1.3 million albums the very first week.
In the summer of 2000, Britney left to go on tour with the Oops! I Did It Again Tour.
While Britney was scheduled to perform at the MTV’s Video Music Awards, she came out dressed in a black suit to sing her hit Oops! and in the middle of the song, she ripped away the suit to show a nude colored suit covered with crystals. Many people couldn’t believe it, the sweet young Britney was now a full-fledged sexy young woman. But that was still not enough to win a Grammy; she was nominated again in 2000 but lost. She did win another Billboard Award and another American Music Award. Britney did her first endorsement deal in the early part of 2001, she signed on as a spokeswoman for Pepsi.

The MTV Video Music Awards had asked Britney to come back and perform, she accepted and this time she caused another controversy, she appeared on stage with an albino Python snake, causing PETA to boycott Britney, it did not work, people from all over the world were in love with her. In 2001, she released her third album titled Brtiney, again it debuted in the top spot and sold about 750,000 copies the first week. With this album turning more hits for Britney, she made it into musical history. Britney was the first female star to debut at number one on three consecutive albums releases.
Britney’s hit song I’m a Slave 4 U was the hottest video and song for that year. She was nominated for two more Grammies but lost both to Norah Jones. It was beginning to feel like always a bridesmaid never a bride. Britney again was in the news, it was reported by a Texas DJ morning show pair, that Britney and Justin were involved in an accident and she was dead. It turns out obviously she wasn’t dead and they were not even in any type of accident. In 2002, Britney won a role in the movie Crossroads, she was a natural actress, though the movie did not do great, she received good reviews as an actress.
